Coding & Software
Our research group, MultiForm, is committed to open-source development for multiscale modeling and computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Most of our tools are built using the OpenFOAM C++ library.
Core Software Repositories
- MultiForm-UoN (GitHub Hub): Our primary research software hub hosting over 40 repositories.
- OpenQBMM: Solvers for population balance equations (PBEs) in multiphase flows (crystallization, combustion, etc.).
- mrmtFOAM: Simulates mobile-immobile transport through Multi-Rate Mass Transfer models.
- SECUReFOAM: Advanced reservoir simulation for complex/fractured geological media (developed for EU H2020 SECURe).
- foodFreezeFoam: Coupled solid-fluid simulation for industrial food processing applications.
- spnpFoam: Multi-region solver for electrokinetics (Nernst-Planck systems).
- MPeat: Ecohydrological models predicting long-term peatland evolution and mechanics.
- PINNs & SciML: Implementation of Physics-Informed Neural Networks for inverse transport problems in porous materials.
- Splitting Schemes: High-order numerical schemes for multiscale and multiphysics simulations.
- Battery Modeling: Custom solvers for multiscale battery degradation and performance simulations.
Open-Source Philosophy
We believe in democratizing advanced mathematical models through open-source access. These tools are designed for both academic exploration and industrial-scale simulation.
